Professor April N. Hackert, MS, RDN, LDN, CEDRD-S is a Psychiatric Culinary Medicine Research Dietitian, Scientist, International Clinical Eating Disorder Supervisor specializing in Nutrition Neuropsychology. Through the genesis of Choose to Change Nutrition Services (1998), April showcases the healing power of food for medical and mental health conditions. This includes removing stigma and internal trauma for seeking support for mental health conditions. As a global expert in Dietetics and trained orator, April finds it a pure joy to communicate complex scientific principles into creative and relatable concepts for all audiences. Her research examines dietary components and subjective behavioral food patterns of humans with symptoms of anxiety.
Meghan Hockey is an Accredited Practising Dietitian and PhD candidate with The Food & Mood Centre. She has expertise in working with people with common and complex mental disorders and is passionate about supporting people to make healthier lifestyle choices to improve their mental health. Her research interests include the role of diet in mental health, with the focus of her PhD on the association between dairy intake and depression. Meghan has worked across several diet interventions for depression, has authored more than ten publications in the field of Nutritional Psychiatry, and has received multiple awards for her research at national and international conferences. She also regularly presents on the role of diet in mental health at schools and community events.
